A guide to help you save or improve your non profit group. I have worked with Nonprofit Organizations since the 1960s and over the years have developed a huge amount of tips tricks and of course sure fire methods of dealing with all of the issues you may encounter.
On this site you will find articles written by experts who wish to see a charitable organization succeed.
Be not weary in well doing What you are entering into is no easy task. Along the way you will battle toxic personalities, know it alls, people who live and die by their own bylaws, and for some reason or another try to stop you from succeeding even though you may share all the same common goals.
That may be one of the most frustrating things about this. You are doing this essentially for free, encountering resistance to change, denial that there are issues that need to be fixed, battling people with the same goals, but the worst is battling people with the idea that if its going to be saved, it going to be saved only by me.
This site is not about self enhancement or to promote anyone in particular, nor is it intended to glorify one group over another. Whether you are saving a service organization, a civic group, a fraternity, or a church, within you will find some great information to help aid and assist your growth and revitalization.
This site dips into a fair amount of Sociology (study of groups) and Psychology (study of individuals) to try to explain not only how to reach your goals but to try to explain why your opponent’s mindset might me where it is.
Some of it is textbook, some is experience, but I assure you it’s all helpful. Please browse the toolboxes and articles, and check out or companion facebook page Save My Nonprofit. It’s a great way to access others information that was not originated by us.
The existence of Nonprofits in our society is essential, and make no mistake they are in real trouble.
We all need those aid societies to pick up the slack where governments just can’t. Somebody has to put out the fires, protect peoples rights, uplift one another, educate one another in religion, help refugees, get families through holidays, and the myriad of other causes that keep our society rolling. Without them society begins to crumble and grind into cruelty.
Each group has its causes, visions, and of course issues. Not every solution will work for every group, so do not feel confounded by any pause or failure. What may work great for a Freemason’s lodge may not for your local methodist church.
Don’t get discouraged, just keep swimming like that fabled fish Dory in finding Nemo.
If you find something that works for you that is not here, please drop me a line. Something that nobody has ever thought about may be the way to save another, look. Somebody had to be the first to try CPR right? So if it works for you, we want to know about it.
This is an ever evolving site and we already have one book published on the subject, and number two is in the works. As of now don’t bother buying it. Everything in it you can find here, and for free. So unless you need help falling asleep (it’s pretty dry) i would not be chasing it down. Really it just lends credibility to what you find here.
